After
the great sack of 1630 and the Gonzagas' fall, the passage under the Austrian
government allows the city economical and cultural rebirth.
The Palace was built starting in 1784 on the initiative of a branch of the noble Trentino D'Arco family who had settled permanently in Mantua since 1740.
This palace, with its neoclassical triumph, rapresent one of the
most important sign of the baroque
style. The architect Anton Galli Bibiena created is the fantastic Scientific
Theater where Mozart played in 16 january 1770.
Another near building of Palace contains the extraordinary pictorial cycle of the Sala dello Zodiaco, the work of Falconetto, executed around the year 1515.
