Majestic and evocative, the Duke's Palace covers an area of 35.000 square meters and houses more than 900 different rooms. It’s a tiny city with gardens, courtyards and squares surrounding the palatine Basilica of Santa Barbara, main heart of the complex. The Palace was designed to surprise and confuse the visitors. You will enjoy many masterpieces from Pisanello’s gothic style to the Renaissance and Humanistic masterpieces by Andrea Mantegna, Raphael, Giulio Romano, to Rubens, Fetti and countless other artists that made the Duke's Palace one of the most extraordinary building in Europe. The tour continues to piazza Broletto and piazza Erbe, you will see the Palazzo del Podestà (Mayor Palace) and the Palazzo della Ragione - Middle Ages palaces - , Saint Lorenzo ( a church built on a round plan), Saint Andrea Basilica, L.B. Alberti’s best work. While on tour you'll have the possibility for a tasting of typical products with a possibility of purchasing the goods in the workshops in the centre.
